Voices Speak- A Beginner's Guide to Spirit Communcation

Introduction

Greetings! My name is Debbie Edwards, but you can call me Deb. Most of my friends do and today, I'd like to offer you my friendship and ask you to take a journey with me into the World of Spirit.

Mutual Exchange

My intention for this book is pretty simple. I wish to bring to the public, to the people I cannot reach on a daily basis, the same tools for spirit communication that I've given to others through my private and group sessions, workshops and classes. I want to help you build a solid foundation that will give you the platform you need to go further. The fact that you're reading this page, tells me that you're ready for that next step and that I have been put in your path to help you achieve that. Yet, you as well have been put in my own path to help me with the next step of reaching people on a larger scale than I have been able to in the past. So it is a mutual exchange and I thank you for your support.

Catholic School

I'm sure you have questions about who I am and that's completely understandable. After all, trust doesn't come easy. So I'll start by sharing with you that I grew up in a strict Catholic home. I attended Catholic school until the sixth grade and after attending public schools from there, I was still required to attend church on a weekly basis with my grandmother. I did that until I graduated from high school and to be honest with you, I haven't attended a service since. What I discovered through teachings in Catholicism from our local church, was that what I experienced naturally with premonitions, psychic intuitions and many other forms of spirit communication, was said to be bad, really bad. It wasn't something said to me directly by our pastor. Instead, it was said through various services I attended and I came to realize that there were some people I couldn't mention these things to. This left me quite perplexed. After all, what I experienced from the time I was a very young child felt completely normal to me.

Mother's Support

My Mother was open to the experiences I had because she too experienced these forms of phenomena and so she became my coach and mentor in the paranormal, nudged by the teachings of my father who was a well known astrologer of his time.

Astral Travel

I remember going on midnight journeys away from my body. Once, I viewed myself sleeping as I floated up against the ceiling, looking down with a form of emotional detachment at my body . Astral travel was a common occurrence for me and although it has slowed down a little in my adult years, I can remember many, many times in which I'd travel here and there and do all sorts of things until it was time to wake up. And that's when I would suddenly get pulled backwards into my body where I could hear the rush of energy in my ears and feel my 'self' settle back down into 'myself'.

White Light and Prayers of Protection

As a teenager I discovered meditation through audio tapes that my mother passed on to me. That was the first time I learned how to work with my energy and learn how to protect myself with white light and prayers of protection. Shortly after listening to these tapes before bedtime, I had my first real past-life experience/memory through a dream. I knew at that moment when I woke up, that this was something that had forever changed my life. I was fifteen. I knew I would have to pursue the swarming questions I had about spirituality, religion, God, and death. I knew these things were happening for a reason and there was no way I could dismiss them.

Someone Else's Truth

I'm sure you've had many questions of your own and I'm very glad, because with questions, and the search for answers, the journey will deliver the truth. I knew that I couldn't accept someone else's version of the truth as my own. I had to discover it myself. I could sit there and listen to someone say that the mountain they just climbed was fourteen thousand feet high with steep cliffs and jagged rocks. I could hear them tell me of the winds, location of the caves, and the waterfalls too. But it was their version of the experience; it was their memory of it, not mine. So unless I strapped on a backpack, put on hiking shoes and headed out for that tough climb, I'd never know it for myself. Sure, I could believe it, but I'd never fully KNOW it. It is the knowing that brings truth. It is the knowing that is the difference.

We all reach God in our own way. We all reach the truth through our own experiences and no matter how badly we wish sometimes to get to the top through someone else's efforts, we can't get there unless we make the climb ourselves. Once I realized I would have to make that journey, I was frightened. I thought it would isolate me and cause me to endure discrimination. Quickly I discovered that fear to be true. I did face many obstacles including discrimination from others for my beliefs and experiences. But that is all part of the process.

Army of Angels

As strong as our opponents can be, we have an even stronger army of angels beside us, guiding us along the way, keeping us going when uncertainty arises. We are never alone, even now, we're not alone. If you are like me, and are close to individuals or communities who are not as accepting as others, do not be dismayed or discouraged. It is okay. It is okay if you are not understood. And it is okay if you cannot share this as openly as you would like. There is a time and place for all things. If you are in a family who embraces these changes within you, then bless you.

The Mountain Before You

So now the mountain stands before you. It will be a steep climb at times. You will be faced with bursts of wind, sudden storms, and frigid temperatures. You will endure fatigue and will receive a full challenge that stretches you to the very limits to your being. But with each tough climb comes a plateau in which you can rest and view the beauty before you. And with each slippery slope, comes strength to hang on and the ability to know where to step. With each sudden storm of bitter words and judgments will come a blossoming rainbow of hope in the mist thereafter. With each sudden burst of wind that will try to knock you off balance and keep you off center, will come the training to teach you how to prepare for it, so that the next time something negative tries to disarm you, you will be ready. You will learn how to guard yourself from the destructive and negative energies of others. You will learn how to strengthen your own energy and keep yourself centered in an ever changing whirlwind of life.

Our Everyday Lives

With our chaotic schedules and unending responsibilities, it is easy to wander off our pathway to spiritual growth. Not that our life lessons in general don't add to our spiritual growth, but in a conscious pursuit of spiritual growth, our everyday lives can challenge it. After work, dinner, errands, and family time, we barely have time for ourselves anymore. And that is why this book will help you. Connecting to spirit doesn't have to keep you separate from the things you do everyday. It doesn't have to demand that you need large blocks of private time. There are ways to be productive spiritually without compromising the things we are expected to do. After all, I've always looked at it this way; meditation is not an act that we enter into. We are in a constant state of meditation and it is up to us to which degree.

All of us already see things, hear things, and know things ahead of time at the same time we are engaged in other activities. For example: One day I was cleaning the house. A normal routine with which we are all familiar. I suddenly got a flash in my head of a scene from a movie. I thought to myself how cool it would be to watch it again. Then, not even a couple hours later, I was flipping through the stations and there it was, the movie I had seen in my mind. It was an old movie and wasn't something you'd expect to find on the movie channels. And you know what? It was featuring the exact scene that I had seen a flash of earlier. I know that some time or another this is something you have also experienced. I'm sure you have thought of an old friend a time or two and as you're thinking of them, they call, even though it's been months. What about when you have children and while they're at school one day you feel something wrong, that something is 'off'. Then they come home and you discover that they had gotten into trouble.

We Are All Psychic

We are all psychic. We all have the ability to know things ahead of time. We all have dreams that come true and have premonitions that we can't explain. But sometimes we don't recognize it and that is how we miss the connection. In fact, it's easier to overlook a message than it is to recognize one. Oftentimes things come to us subtly in a way that we completely dismiss as coincidence or a fluke. But in fact, it is a real premonition. Messages don't have to come as a big huge boom or ah-ha moment for it to be valid or important. Just the fact that they come, shows you there is a bigger picture to it. There is a bigger picture to you and to your existence as a human being.

Prayer of Protection

Before I end this introduction, I'd like to share with you something that is most important. When working with any form of energy, it is necessary to say a prayer of protection to keep your experiences as positive and productive as can be. You can develop your own of course but I'd like to share one with you as an example which also includes a short visualization that you can do to strengthen this experience.

Now, it isn't necessary to be in a private location or in a meditative state while doing this. I actually suggest to people to get into the habit of working with energy in a casual, everyday way. The purpose for this is pretty simple. We are doing everyday activities more than we are in a quiet, private, meditative state. As you train your brain, attention span and memory in this way, it will be more natural for you to pick up on and perceive messages that come to you in your waking life, which is how most messages arrive.

Another quick suggestion for you is to do this every day; get into the habit of it so, as you continue this journey, you will receive better results more frequently.

Prayer of protection

Dear God,

I ask that you protect me and all those that I am connected to.

Surround us with loving white light and keep us safe from all forms of energy that wish us harm.

Please guide me on the path that you have chosen for me.

Thank you,

Amen.

It is important to protect yourself as well as everyone you are connected to because what affects us, also affects those we are attached to. So here is an exercise that is very effective and easy to do. It will offer protection to all of you.

The White Light

Visualize with me a bright white light. In your mind you know that this light is impenetrable and will keep you safe from all forms of negative energy. Picture this light as though it's a phone cord. It's strength is immeasurable and you know it cannot be severed. Picture it within your heart. See it illuminating your entire body and spirit. See it wrap around your entire being as though it were a cocoon. Now, when it feels 'full' within you and around you, picture it extending from your heart into the heart of those you wish to protect. Picture all of you sitting within a circle. That white light becomes an orb that cocoons all of you and you are all connected through the heart by this light. Take as long as you need to visualize this. And be patient with yourself because sometimes you will feel 'heavy' while doing this. It might physically feel difficult and that is very normal. That is because your energy is changing vibrations. As a human being, you naturally operate at a slower frequency than the energies that are not. So allow yourself the time it takes to get used to this feeling. The more often you do this, the more concrete it will become and you will immediately feel the difference as it becomes stronger and more effective.

As with any exercise, patience is key. So with that, welcome. I hope you enjoy what you read but beyond that, I truly hope this book guides you through the steps to reconnecting with your higher self.
